“We don't just make steel. We make the material that lets a society build its future — and now, the steel that lets it build that future without carbon.”
POSCO began in 1968 as Pohang Iron and Steel Company, created to supply the steel a fast-growing Korea needed for its roads, ships, cars and cities. In 1973, the first blast furnace at Pohang poured molten iron — the start of a story that would reshape a national economy.
Over the decades we added the vast Gwangyang Works, pioneered our own ironmaking technology, FINEX, and built a reputation for high-grade steels trusted by automakers, shipbuilders and energy companies around the world.
Today POSCO is the core steel company of POSCO Group. Our next chapter is the biggest yet: moving from coal to hydrogen with HyREX, and from experience-driven operations to intelligent, data-driven steelworks.
